Here are some more poems I’ve done for NaPoWriMo!
20
We worry too much
To dream today.
“There’s much to do,”
He used to say
Stomping.
We insist on a schedule
But I demand breaks,
Resting.
I’m weak for it, probably, you think.
21 – Pink, mostly
I was the child that hated pink
Because I was supposed to like it.
A little here and there
Never bothered me
But everyone knew I favored blue–
Sally Acorn with her vest!
And the darker, the better; navy
Turned that expectation on its head.
But, 7th grade found me
Forced into being “older”
Because “Girls Mature Faster”
(and Black Girls are just “Fast”).
I envied Chibi Usa
And her pink hair and skirt–
She got to be a kid.
So I clung to deep pink.
Older, now,
I don’t have colors to loathe.
Pink accessorizes my outfits.
“Pynk” gains constant traction in my head.
And whether my lover wears it
Or I make up with bright roses,
It accompanies my blue
Very well.
22 – In Which They Fight
The Nintendo Switch and Kobo eReader
Clash for my attention.
Games, or Reading?
Either way, I’m engaged with
Something I enjoy
In my favorite spot with my favorite blanket.
I wish they’d see that.
It’s like having two kids, I suppose,
Or two cats;
I love them both!
And yet, they squabble.
One of them threw a punch.
Time to break them up.
