Thick Of It (or, "The Creative One")
I ramble. Creatively.
This is one my favorite parts: talking about Black art that spoke to me this year!
Juliana Huxtable
She's Gotta Have It released on Netflix in, like, 2017 (and of course it got canceled after two seasons). Based on the original Spike Lee movie, it was "remade with modern sensibilities," as someone put it. Which I am glad for, because I'm sure the original is a classic in its own right but probably didn't age well (understatement).
I finished this series yesterday, on the last day of Kwanzaa. Very fitting!
One of the things I loved about the series was its homages, shoutouts, and displays of other artists. I live under an artless rock, so this is how I came to know about Juliana Huxtable's work.

You can read more about her in this article.
That Twin Peaks Track and Other Music
Flying Lotus is a neeeeerrrrd! So when I looked up the lyrics to "Garmonbozia," I wasn't surprised that it was a reference to a TV show. I never would have caught that (because I haven't watched Twin Peaks). The mans also had David Lynch guest on a previous track so this is totes his M.O.
Andโ guess whatโ I stumbled upon Secret of Mana remixes! I slotted this next to my Asis Gavin's Final Fantasies remix album. I'm always looking for lofi or vaporwave/trap versions of some of my favorite game soundtracks.
The below track is by Natsu Fuji; they have a Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
OOF (positive; it makes sense in context)
I gave in to one recap thingy, and that was for YouTube music (don't at me, I have my ways). When it wasn't Teebs, I had...
- shygirl (just this entire album, basically)
- SBTRKT (& Sampha) - Hold On
- Lil Nas X - SWISH (I had this on repeeeeeaaat)
And on Bandcamp, I've added
