18. What was something you were obsessed with as a child?
I mean, besides cats...
Electronic organizers.
Listen... When the Question of the Day bot asked my server what their happiest day in their life was, this memory jumped out at me immediately: getting one of these bad boys for Christmas in 1995. I was so goofy I yelled "I HAVE WANTED THIS MY ENTIRE LIFE" and my parents were so tickled because I was only ten years old.

I had a thing for electronics in general (ask me how many virtual pets I had), but organizers were the chef's kiss that tickled my little brain. It told fortunes, kept track of my friend's phone numbers, calculator (shut up I was that bad at math), and a variety of other things that made me feel I was playing as a grownup. A training bra for future gadget nerds.

Tiger Electronics put out some bangers, but when you wanted to get Serious with organizing your 5th grade class and trash talk, you grabbed a Casio. By middle school, I upgraded to My Super Magic Diary (the one with the dog). I also had the talking one, just for the gimmick, until one of my friends stole it (Lisa, I forgive you, and I hope you made it out unscathed).

What was cool about these Casio ones was that they did the infrared message thing– in French class a friend and I would send messages back in fourth until we were scolded in English.
Because, yes, I actually used it for Stuff! Memos, schedule, and of course– as an address book.
I also used the alarm feature a lot. Gotta get up for school, after all. And to remind myself to book it back to the middle school campus with my Dunkin Donuts frappe before I was missed.
I also kept a lot of Notes in there, because you had to keep track of a lot of things as a sixth grader... like terms you learned in Sex Ed.
I know I started a collection at some point, but the only other one I can recall is a black-and-teal one my best friend had, so of course I had to get that one too. (Or did she have the other pink one? And if the age ranges were aligned I'm certain she would've grabbed the Clueless branded version.) If I ever did spring for an adult one, I didn't use it for long; I was into writing everything by high school and kept things the old fashioned way.
Also, cell phones were coming up.
