17. Your friend is visiting! Make a 24 hour itinerary for your city.

If I actually planned a day, here is what it would look like.

I do have a friend coming in next month, but we'll be at a con. :3 Most I'll plan would be dinner spots!

In general, though, here's what I'd do. I'd leave a lot open-ended to be flexible.

  1. Get up whenever (but set an alarm to beat the breakfast crowd)
  2. Breakfast: local diner style
  3. Activities
    1. greenway walk
    2. wildcard- what would the guest want to do?
  4. Lunch
    1. whenever we get hungry enough
    2. probably just a snack w/ extra steps, or small plates
    3. perfect excuse to go to the Tea Bar (and another diner up the street if we're still hungry)
  5. Another Activity
    1. browsing some cool local stores
    2. if we haven't walked yet, do that!
    3. at some point, we should take a nap...
  6. Dinner: sushi (or whatever the guest is feelin')
  7. Dessert: visit my favorite comic book shop for ice cream!
  8. UP ALL NITE: if we're up for it, a favorite bar to go...
    1. dancin'?
    2. open mic?
    3. hookah?
    4. music?
    5. be a general menace to polite society?

The Rambling

First order of business: figure out where to have breakfast, lunch, dinner. There's no shortage of places for all sorts of tastes. To make this easier on myself let's assume this friend likes the same kinda stuff I do... but if we got something they really like, we'll definitely swing by there!

Breakfast would be somewhere reliable and memorable– probably a place where I don't go often, but I'm always raving about to other people. There's a diner that has shrimp as a side option, with amazing grits. There's cozy-enough coffeeplaces we can go for something a bit less chaotic. When all else fails, I can cook some eggs and pancakes and livermush.

Lunch will be up in the air– we'll think of that when we get hungry. Lately I've been really enjoying all the boba tea places that've opened up. But my fallback... is always sushi.

In between, there will be some low-key stuff to do. There's museums and art galleries. Coworking in another cozy coffeehouse if we're both giant nerds. My go-to is a walk on the greenway, especially after eating. There are some calming and gorgeous scenery that way.

There is an honest-to-goodness cozy tea place where I can literally take off my shoes, stretch out on a couch, and take a nap after having a pot of tea. That place is a must.

Dinner will depend on what we're up to later in the night. If staying in, it'd be somewhere we could lounge around and eat a lot, then trudge home with the leftovers to veg.

Maybe we'll see some open mic, or catch a drag show, or a lineup of small bands coming through. But I'm a low-key creature, so we'll keep it at that.
