Things I'm Trying to Do.
Woooo, lemme tell you. I've been slacking once I surpassed my writing goal in September. I've still been writing, but haven't gone through the drafts (doing it now, I promise)!
But mostly, SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) has been kicking. My. Ass! I'm trying to combat it with doing some stuff. Like a morning routine.
So far, it looks like
- actually looking at my calendar for the week
- ...and trello for things to prioritize
- taking dedicated time for RSS feed browsing (i.e. the News)
- log in to my cowork spaces
- check email
- check other email
- "morning pages" while I write whatever down and quit being groggy
- oh shit maybe even respond to text messages
And that's including all the usual getting dressed, eating, and boring human stuff. It's been working so far! ...When I remember to do it. Fortunately, my web browser has this nifty "HOME" button that makes it easy to remember. It is helping me (groan) touch base with what I should be focusing on, put things in perspective.
So, yeah, I recommend it.
Some Other Stuff
Here and there I've been tweaking how I interact with technology, from avoiding AI like the plague to just changing things up. I even tried another home launcher for my phone!
While I just went back to Niagara launcher, having the old school Windows Live Tiles and Phone Things and Whatnot had been pretty nice; I put that one on my tablet (but should probably use this one instead?).
(Before that? AIO Launcher. And I started out with Nova Launcher, which is still pretty powerful.)
Time-Wasters on Said Phone
If I could just have one app where I can just zone out or keep the hands busy, that'd be cool. So far, I've just a rando coloring app and a steady of rotation of (currently) merge games w/ story gossip (that I skip over).
Or. You know. I could just freakin' read. Thanks, Instapaper! (And the Kobo app, for the rare times I was caught somewhere without my eReader.)
In the queue there is a post on a certain gacha game with dudes in it... but as of this writing I haven't touched it in a month. I guess I finally got bored of it! Took longer than I thought.
Installing Linux on Everything
Because yes, the more I hear about Windows 11 and Microsoft's general shenanigans, the less I want to deal with it anymore. At this rate Win10 may be their last OS I'll ever touch.
Good thing Linux is like, good now. No, shut up, there was a time where Installing Linux was a pain in the ass for a laything like me and also in general. I tried it once, in 2010, and I couldn't hash it. But now it's not only more user-friendly, I know a lot more than I did back then.
And I can't help but tinker with stuff. I swiped a partner's old laptop and breathed some more life into it, and I'm currently on a quest to not-so-sneakily stick a Linux media machine of some sort into their house just because I can. I've threatened to put Linux on a roommate's Chromebook. My laptop has gone through at least four distros (but none of them Arch). I am a menace.
Do You Go Outside, Tho?
Yes, actually. I've been doing all sorts of community stuff and I even checked out Ren Faire! BY MYSELF!! Plans fell through but no way was I letting that $40 ticket go to waste– and going to things solo isn't certainly a dealbreaker for me. And with my trusty combination of eReader + earbuds I'm damn near invincible. Combat the Idle/Boredom and Overstimulation; that's my secret, Cap.
Also it's, like, Ren Faire. You have to try to be bored there. And it's grown on me. I used to see it as Just a Market where you go Buy Stuff, but for real you go for the shows and nerd vibes (and by . I easily spent the entire day there, when I predicted I'd last only four hours.
A crow took my money. (Positive.)
Also there were rocks.

Trying To Figure Out What Else to Say Here
I mean, I dunno. I'm hanging in there. I got some cool stuff I've unearthed for Throwback Thursday that I found cool. Tweaked some meds. Called my mom. Picked up a cat. Should wash the car.
End-of-Year Posts
Yo, in some blips of the year I was having too much fun to write about what I've been getting into. (In truth, I was too lazy to pull the photos from my camera. Since ditching Google Photos I've had to get creative.) So I need to update y'all on shit I missed talking about.
Because, yo, I went to my first anime convention in years– Tekko! And I've had a cool time camping and glamping! I found nuts!!
And push the last of my drafts out, too. Sometimes I do be just sitting on those.
So, Yeah
Life be Life-ing. Everything is terrible, the world is full of Literally Evil People, I oscillate between Hope and Despair by the hour.
And now I'm rambling.
But, be seeing you.
